In 2019 we welcomed our first Dutch Hookbills to our farm. Mr. Pym was the first to arrive from a breeder in Arizona and it was love at first sight for our family and this unique little breed of duck. Sneeuw was one of our favorite hatchlings in 2020 and Noorden is the newest addition to our small but growing flock. She arrived in August of this year from the northern parts of Minnesota.
As life often does, our best made plans with our flock, have not gone as planned. Our flock grew and thrived but we experienced multiple setbacks in 2022 and the numbers of our flock were depleted to just one breeding pair by the spring of 2023. Sneeuw went broody early in the laying season and diligently attended her nest, but her clutch of eggs were a total loss. Fellow purveyors of these amazing birds are few, but we are diligently working to rebuild our program and look forward to what our hatching season in 2024 will bring!
